Mrs. H. J. HUDDLESTON, 88, resident of Jefferson county for over 50 years, passed away at the home of her daughter in Stockport at 5 p.m. yesterday (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Mrs. HUDDLESTON spent most of her life in Jefferson county, but during the past six years had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Frank BRUGGEMEYER. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
Last rites will be at the First Christian church in Fairfield at 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home.
Mrs. H. J. HUDDLESTON was born Sept. 29, 1864, in Knox county, Illinois, the daughter of Horace and Margaret CHURCHILL. She was united in marriage to Henry J. HUDDLESTON on Dec. 25, 1881, at Rome, Ia. Her husband preceded her in death March 24, 1936.
She was a member of the First Christian church in Fairfield and the American Legion auxiliary at Stockport.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. BRUGGEMEYER at Stockport and Mrs. Ira MESSER, Moline, Ill.; and one son, Roy HUDDLESTON, Decatur, Ill.
Mrs. HUDDLESTON is also survived by one sister, Mrs. W. B. DUTCHER, Chariton, Ia.; and a brother, Clinton CHURCHILL, Chariton; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceedd (sic) in death by two daughters, one son, two sisters and two brothers.
