John E. HEWITT (sic) Taken In Death

Death came late last night to John Earl HEWITT, 68, well known Jefferson county resident. He passed away about 11:25 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient since August 4.

Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with the Rev. Edwin Beach in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

John Earl HEWITT was born Aug. 18, 1890, in Jefferson county, Iowa, the son of the late Edwin James and Anna Jane GANTZ HEWITT. He was reared and educated in Jefferson county, attended Parsons college and Iowa University, and was graduated from Drake University.

He was united in marriage on Aug. 24, 1930, to Marion Katherine SCHAIBLE who passed away April 30, 1950. The wedding took place at Chicago.

Mr. HEWITT was in the teaching profession for several years. He taught and was coach at Delta, Iowa; served as superintendent at Gibson and Hopkinton, and also taught in Chicago and Colorado.

He had been a resident of Fairfield for the past seven years and was a member of the Methodist church.

He is survived by two sons, John Jr., and Gilbert, and a daughter, Mrs. Ronald LAMBERT, Sharp Park, Calif., and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fern FAULKNER.

NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL IN DISTRICT COURT
State of Iowa,
Jefferson County, ss,

To All Whom It May Concern:

You Are Hereby Notified, That an instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of J. E. HEWETT, Deceased dated July 23, 1956 having been this day filed, open and read, Tuesday the 6th day of January, 1958 (sic - 1959), is fixed for hearing proof of same at the Court House in Fairfield, Iowa, before the District Court of said County, or the Clerk of said Court, and at 9:30 o'clock a.m., of the day above mentioned all persons interested are hereby notified and required to appear and show cause, if any they have, why said instrument should not be probated and allowed as and for the last Will and Testament of said deceased.
