I am linked to the Woodrow family of Newton, Iowa through my 3x great grandfather Benjamin Woodrow, who was father to the Benjamin who established the family in Iowa. I have enjoyed following up the links on this site to his sons John and Joseph and the other members of the family who were significant members of the Newton community in the 19th century.
Ironically, I now work in Norwich where both Benjamins were born, although I was born in London and had no idea of these connections until the last year or so! I have not established the date and place of the elder's birth, but am working on it. We know he was a Pawnbroker in Norwich in 1841 and we have a copy of a letter to his daughter Elizabeth of around that date. If there are any local family members interested in genealogy I would be very pleased to make contact. Any further suggestions for research would be very welcome.
