Peter Warner was born in Pennsylvania about 1797. He was married as Rev. Peter Warner in Franklin County Ohio to Elizabeth Williams 20 March 1820. He migrated to Kosciusko County Indiana about 1836 where he established the first mill in what was then Indiana territory. His wife Elizabeth died in October 1849. The 1850 census for Kosciusko County Indiana lists the family as:
Peter Warner, aged 53 (1797), Miller, PA
Josiah Warner, aged 25 (1825), Farmer, OH
Marion Warner, aged 20 (1830), Farmer, OH
Zephoriah Warner, aged 23 (1827), Farmer, OH, Married with the year
Martha Warner, aged 19 (1831), --, VA, Married with the year
Peter Warner married a second time to a widow, Mariah McSherry of Ohio who in 1850 is listed with her daughter Catherine aged 6 and son James age 4. Mariah Belt had married James McSherry 24 September 1853 in Kosciusko County.
Josiah Warner married Ingala Webb 28 Oct 1851 in Kosciusko County.
In 1860, Iowa, Jasper County, Independence Township we find:
268 Peter Warner, aged 65 (1795), Farmer PennsylvaniaMaria “ aged 39 (1821), Ohio
Catherine McSherry aged 13 (1847) Indiana
William B. Warner aged 5 (1855) Indiana
270 Josiah Warner aged 35 (1825) OhioIngalsha (?) aged 25 (1835) Virginia
Thomas J. aged 6 (1854) Indiana
Daniel W. aged 3 (1857) Iowa
Dora E. aged 11/12 (1850) Iowa
In following years I find Peter Warner performing weddings including the 1864 wedding of Catharine McShanny(sic) to Albany J. Harper.
In 1870, Iowa Jasper, Independence:
112 Josiah Warner aged 46, OhioIngala (?) aged 39, New Jersey
Thomas aged 16, Indiana
Daniel(?) W. aged 13, Iowa
Dora E. aged 11, Iowa
Elmer E aged 9, Iowa
Josiah S. aged 6, Iowa
Francis M aged 3, Iowa
124 Peter Warner aged 77, Farmer, PennsylvaniaWilliam B. aged 15, Indiana
I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information or obituraries, especially on Peter Warner. I beleive that Peter Warner also had a son named Simon P.(Peter) who was married to by ggggAunt America Riley. America died in Oregon or California. Thanks
