I am assisting a relative in England research his Trevethan line in Jasper County, Iowa. Here is what he wrote to me...
Subsequent to the release of the Indexed 1910 Census, A long lost Cornish relative, last traced to County Durham (N.E.England) in the UK 1881 Census,has been found at 402 Pleasant Street, Colfax City, Washington Township, Jasper County IOWA .
His name is ALBERT. TREVETHAN (Born Cornwall 1857 - emigrated 1883). He is listed with
a wife Grace, (Who emigrated in 1884). A daughter Grace J.TREVETHAN(19)Son Arthur TREVETHAN(17) and Son R.Spencer TREVETHAN(15) Albert is a CoalMiner, and his eldest son a labourer in a Coal mine. I also know from a search of the 1920 Census for the same address, that Albert is by then a widower with one son still residing with him - namely R.Spencer TREVETHAN and that
his other son and daughter have "flown the coop"Further research has revealed :-
1. An R.Spencer TREVETHAN served in "A" Company 313th U.S.Engineers during
WW1
2. An SS Record of an Arthur TREVETHAN Born 18 Sept 1892 Died May 1989. SSN 521-07-8077 Issued Colorado. Death residence ZIP85206 Localities
