Robert M. Banks, 78, of East Moline, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Per his wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Wanda Coon Banks. He married Patricia J. Robson, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2011. He worked as an industrial truck operator for the former John Deere Plow Planter, retiring in 1992.
Robert was a United States Navy veteran having served from 1958 to 1962. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his children, Wendy (Bill) Arnold, Antioch, Tenn.; Troy Banks, Moline; Errol (Kim) Banks, Geneseo; Brent (Lisa) Banks, Sterling, Va.; stepdaughter, Sandy (Dean) Clark, Knoxville, Iowa; grandchildren, Troy, Paul, Joseph, Crystal, Caitlyn, Lillian, Lorelei and Stephanie; great-granddaughter; Brynn; and siblings, Dolores Vanderleest, Virginia Strovers and Linda Hennon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
