Bellevue, Ia. - Again Bellevue is called to mourn one of her oldest citizens. On Monday morning at his home north of town Mr. Benjamin Wynkoop Seward passed away at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 15 days. He came to Bellevue in 1850 and has been prominent in many activities of the city, never losing interest in the progress of the town, being on the streets most of the time until the past few weeks. He was the father of six children. His wife was Marie Josephine Carman, of Sabula, she having passed away several years ago, also one child died in early childhood, another, Mrs. Z. L. Brewer, died in 1909. Those left are B. W. Seward, Jr. of the Bank of Bellevue, which his father with W. L. Redmond started in 1865, Miss Bell with whom he made his home, and Josie, all of Bellevue, also one sister, Mrs. Ophelia Hughey, who is able to be here with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Tarrants, of Liberty, Mo., with whom she makes her home.
