Merrill R. Bonney, 68, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 24, 2022, at Unity Point, St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place.

Merrill Ray Bonney was born on April 11, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Larvel Ray and Fonda Faye (Fuglsang) Bonney. He was a 1972 graduate of Maquoketa High School and then earned his associate degree in Horticulture from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He married Margaret Andrea Kleinsmith on August 28, 1976 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Two children were born from this marriage, Maranda and Marlena.

Merrill had worked as the groundskeeper for Camp Wyoming, and later for Rosenberg Auto Supply in Maquoketa as a front counter parts salesman, and lastly for J & P Cycles in Anamosa as a motorcycle technician.

Merrill enjoyed bowling and had bowled a 300 game along with several 299's! He also enjoyed duck hunting, bass fishing and riding motorcycles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Margaret Bonney of Maquoketa, IA; daughters, Maranda (Tony Radloff) Bonney of Olin, IA, and Marlena Bonney of Maquoketa, IA; 3 grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jaylyn, and Irelyn; and a brother, William "Bill" (Sherry) Bonney of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Merrill R. Bonney memorial fund has been established.
