Thomas N. McGee
born Aug 12, 1856

T. N. McGee, a farmer and stock-raiser in Garfield Township, Ida County, was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, August 12, 1856, a son of James H. and Nancy (Winkleman) McGee, a native of Ohio and of Irish and German descent. The parents located near Ida Grove. They reared a family of ten children; six sons and four daughters. T. N. McGee was reared on a farm and educated in the common schools of Grundy and Livingston counties in Illinois. He came to Ida Grove in 1876 and that same year purchased eighty acres of raw prairie land in Garfield Township. He raises good grades of cattle and horses, has five acres of his place devoted to grove and orchard and has purchased more land totaling 120 acres. He has a barn, 20 x 26, and has a creek flowing through the farm.
T. N. McGee was married in 1878 to Maggie Warnock, daughter of Richard Warnock, deceased, formerly a prominent and early pioneer of Ida County. The mother now resides in this township. Our subject has four children: Frances, Gertie, Maud and Mary. He is a firm believer in the Republican Party. He is a member of the K. of P., Lodge No. 257, of Battle Creek.
