REYNOLDS.
William P. Reynolds, son of Zephaniah E. and Elizabeth Reynolds, was born near Albany, New York, June 23, 1830, and was at the time of his death nearly 88½ years of age. When a boy he removed with his parents to Wisconsin, living in the section that was later known as Green Lake county. On Feb. 24, 1809{sic}, he was married to Bertha Amelia Yunker who is still living.
It will be observed that had he lived until Feb. 24th of next year this husband and wife might have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Their eldest son Seymour Adelbert was born in Wisconsin. In 1864 they removed to Howard county, Ia., where Mr. Reynolds became associated with his brother-in-law in the business of manufacturing carriages in Lime Springs. Here the second son was born Alonzo Gustavus who is now residing in California. In 1883, the family removed to South Dakota, and later to Omaha, Neb., then to California from which state the father and mother came four years ago to reside with their eldest son in Spokane, Washington.
During this latter period Mr. Reynolds has been a victim of paralysis which caused his death. For more than three years he has lain perfectly helpless, unable even to turn himself in bed but always patient and uncomplaining.
On Sunday, Dec. 1st, 1918, at noon he was released from his suffering and taken home we believe to dwell with God.
In early manhood Mr. Reynolds united with the Baptist church, his wife having been a member of that church previous to their marriage, and for over sixty years he remained a consistent member of this Christian denomination and has now gone to his reward. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon Dec. 7, at two o’clock, Rev. G. M. Shoemaker pastor of Lime Springs M. E. church having charge of theservice{sic}. Members of the M. E. church choir sang “Jesus Saviour Pilot Me,” and “Face to Face with My Redeemer.”
The body was laid to rest in Lime Springs cemetery beside the resting places of relatives who had preceded him.
Mrs. Reynolds accompanied the remains of her husband on the journey from Spokane, Wash., to Lime Springs where she will spend the winter with her sister, Mrs. Albinus Wells.
