Brakeman Killed by Cars.
Waterloo Reporter:—Brakeman Geo. V. Pollock died at 12:00 noon, today at Farley from injuries received only thirty-five minutes earlier by being struck by the engine of train No. {?}1, while switching cars in the yards at that place. He had gone forward from the engine to throw a switch and his foot became caught in the frog of the switch after the signal to “comeahead” had been given. Pollock was struck by the engine and thrown from the track. Had this not occured he would have been ground under the relentless wheels. His right leg, which was the one caught, was terribly bruised, but it was internal injuries resulting by being struck by the engine that was the direct cause of death.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1872 and is buried in Union Cemetery in Hardin County.
