Florence P. Osthus, 94, of Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday at the Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Funeral services for Osthus will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Linn's Funeral Home Chapel in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Linn's Funeral Home.

Florence P. Osthus, 94, of Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral services for Florence Osthus will be 1:30 pm Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Linn's Funeral Home Chapel, Iowa Falls. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church UCC in Iowa Falls or the Iowa Falls Garden Club. The Linn's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Peters Holck was born December 27, 1915, at her parents home in Dale Township of O'Brien County, Iowa, the daughter of Alvina Bertha [Peters] and John Jacob Holck. She attended country grade school and the Paulina Community Schools graduating with the class of 1934 from the Paulina High School. On October 21, 1936, she was united in marriage to Alfred Telman Osthus at Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union five children were born: Ramon, Donetta, Janice, Sharon, and Ronald. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for her husband's Arrow Truck Stop. After his untimely death in 1969 she worked for the Iowa Falls Coop Decorating and Appliance Store in Iowa Falls and the Riverside Book and Bible. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Iowa Falls, the Service Circle of church, the Iowa Falls Garden Club of which she was a past Treasure for many years. She was a special advocate of flowers and gardening and loved going to Bible Study and did reflexology for many of her friends.
Florence is survived by her children: Ramon Osthus of Marshalltown, Iowa, Donetta [Mrs. F. N.] Frerichs of Ackley, Iowa, Janice [Mrs. Thomas] Kaplan of Fairfax, Virginia, Sharon Osthus of Des Moines, Iowa, Ronald [Lora] Osthus of Alden, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and siblings: John [Alice] Holck of Fremont, Nebraska, Donald [Donna] Holck of Le Mars, Iowa, and Uneva [Curt] Bertson of Paulina, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Alvina Holck; her husband: Alfred Osthus; two twin granddaughters. April and Dawn Williams; and siblings: Leroy Holck, Sylvia Fidelke, and Elva Cole.
