From Jewell Record May 14, 1908 (page 1)

Mrs. Lewis Hanson.

Word reached Jewell last Saturday forenoon that Mrs. Lewis Hanson had died early that morning after a serious sickness of about a week. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eastvold, Monday, services being conducted at the husband's home northeast of Ellsworth in English in the forenoon and at the Norwegian Lutheran church here in the Norwegian language in the afternoon, and the body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery here.

Josie Johnson was the daughter of Mrs. Jergen Johnson of Jewell. She was the only child and the widowed mother is now left alone in old age without husband or child. The deceased daughter was married to Lewis Hanson about five years ago. For the past two years she has been in poor health and about a week before her death her sickness became very serious. Friday a physician was called and finally she seemed considerably relieved. At about four o'clock in the morning she relapsed into unconsciousness from which she never recovered and early in the morning passed peacefully away. She leaves no children. The husband an aged mother have the sincere sympathy of everyone in their loss.
