Infant Son Of A. P. Lee Buried
Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon over the remains of Percival, the little son of A. P. Lee, and all that remained of the one who had been the bright and happy son of fond father was laid away in the grave beside his mother whom he has gone to join in a better land.
The boy, hose full name was Percival Clifton Orestes Lee, was born August 21, 1904, and died Sept. 10, 1907, at but a little past three years of age. The child had been sick for only twenty hours, succumbing to a sudden attack of cholera morbus. The funeral was conducted from the Lutheran church Friday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hansen and Rev. Loehre. The child's mother died when he as but about eighteen months old, and the remains of the son were laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery beside the mother.
Mr. Lee has requested the Record to give public expression of his heart-felt thanks to the kind friends who expressed their sympathy in the time of his affliction by their kindly words and helpful deeds.
The following words in verse expressive of hope and resignation were given us for publication by the father:
A rollicking boy
Full of laughter and glee--
His innocent joy
Was a music to me.
The infant, the child--
Soon the youth, then man--
My hope looked ahead
As a father's hope can.
I thought he was mine
For a comfort, a stay--
But Lord, he was yours
And you took him away!
The lightning flashed
The sky as clear;
My hopes were dashed
Tho the Lord was near.
Some fond hopes were dashed
But this hope was given,
That I shall meet
My Percival in heaven.
