Mrs. Peter Nelson Passes Away.
Sunday night, May 5th, at 11:30 o'clock, death came to Mrs. Peter Nelson as a merciful release from a year of suffering and pain. It had been Mrs. Nelson's fortunate lot to have enjoyed near sixty years of perfect health, until about two years of perfect health, until about two years ago she first felt the attack of an insidious disease. A cancerous tumor of the stomach appeared and during the past year had made the deceased the victim of terrible suffering. An operation last winter failed to afford any permanent relief, and the peace of death could be no other than a welcome relief from pain and suffering.
Anna Christina Wilhelmsen was born at Shelland, Denmark, June 16, 1845. In 1871 she came to Marshalltown, Iowa, and in 1872 was married at that place to Peter Nelson. In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Nelson removed to Story county where they lived one year, then moved to Hamilton county where they have ever since resided, either in Jewell or in the near vicinity. During their twenty-seven years residence in this community, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have well proven their sterling worth as neighbors and citizens, and all unite in extending sympathy to the husband. In his loss of a faithful wife, the community has lost one whom all honored and respected.
The funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock from the Congregational church, Rev. G. O. Porter officiating. The funeral will be in charge of the Eastern Star, of which order the deceased was a member. All the children of the deceased survive her, and all of them, W. W. Nelson, of Niagara, N. D., Charley Nelson, residing on the home farm south-west of town and J. P. Nelson, of Valley Jct., are here in attendance at the funeral. The remains will be laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery at this place, until the resurrection day all the members of the now sorrowing family shall once more be reunited.
