From Jewell Record December 6, 1906 (page 5)

Peter Branham.

Peter Branham was born in Hancock county, Ill., June 2, 1838. He moved with his parents to Hamilton county, in 1865, where he lived until the death summons called, Friday, November 30th at 10:45 in the forenoon.

His father's family consisted of seven sisters and four brothers, all well known to early pioneers of the county, and highly respected by all who knew them. Six of this family still live to mourn the loss of a brother, two are in Illinois, one in Oklahoma, and three in California.

The deceased was married to Francis Whitney, March 19, 1867. To this union was born ten children, six of whom survive. Three still live at home.

Death came to Mr. Branham after a sickness extending since June last, an affliction of the heart being the cause of death. Since an early day the deceased had been known as a kindly and big-hearted man, his hospitable home and helping hand being at the disposal of neighbor, friend and family.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. C. Cole, and the remains laid to rest in the Jewell cemetery.
