Mrs. Anthon P. Lee
Nettie Kadelta Lewison was born near Elk Point, South Dakota, July 12, 1875, was confirmed July 13, 1890, by Prof. David Lysnes. In 1892 she entered Augustana College in Canton, South Dakota, from which she graduated June 4, 1896. After her graduation she taught school in her home neighborhood for six years. She was married Sept. 4, 1902, to Anthon P. Lee and moved with him to Jewell, Iowa, where they made their home.
She passed away after a short illness, March 22, 1906, leaving a husband and two small children. During her short illness she in her quiet loving ay had won many warm friends who will miss her from among them.
God moves in a mysterious way, but this way is always the best even though we cannot understand the reason why. It is always hard to part with our dear ones and especially when a dear loving wife and mother on the threshold of life is taken away. But the bereaved have the assured hope that the deceased has gone to a better home, a "house not built with hands eternal in the heavens." She was privileged to spend her last days here in peace with Jesus and convinced the sorrow stricken husband and relatives that she was fully prepare to go and encouraged them to meet her on that shore where no parting tears are shed. May God bless her witness among us.
When the end was approaching her parents and relatives were wired but they could not get here in time to bid her a last farewell in this life. Many of them, however, came to the funeral, namely, her parents, three sisters, three brothers and six cousins.
The funeral took place Sunday forenoon at eleven o'clock. Long before time the church was crowded to its fullest capacity. The church was decorated in white trimmed with black set in with a beautiful arrangement of plants and cut flowers. Rev. Eastvold spoke in the Norwegian language and dwelt on the necessity of preparing ourselves to leave this world. Rev. Lohre spoke in English and brought out the beautiful thought of a house in heaven in contrast to only a tabernacle here on earth.
