Old Settler Passes Away.

Mrs. Mette Katrim Sorenson [sic] was born in Horsens, Denmark, March 12, 1836, and was married in Denmark to Jergen B. Sorenson, in 1856 and came to this country and settled in Hamilton county, Iowa. In the spring of 18-1 they built the residence now owned by W. T. Stover where they lived a few years, then they removed to a farm one mile south and two and a half miles west of town.

Four children were born to them, three girls and one boy--three of whom are still living; one daughter lives in Denmark, and one, Mrs. Andrew Hanson, with whom Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson have made their home for the past ten years, lives west of town, and the son, George Johnson, has conducted a general store here at different times for the past twenty years, and is in business here at present.

Mrs. Sorenson died last Saturday, January 28, 1905, at eight o'clock p. m., the cause of her death being attributed to old age.

Her husband at the age of seventy-five, still survives her and is in fairly good health.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. N. P. Clemmensen, at the Danish Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
