JACOB S. JACOBSON

Jacob S. Jacobson, son of Sven and Helen Jacobson (Okland) was born at Sveen, Norway, August 19, 1878, and died at Randall, Iowa, May 20, 1937 at the age of 58 years and 9 months.

He was baptized in the Sveen church Sept. 16, 1878 and confirmed in the Elim church at Randall by Rev. O. Svingen Oct. 2, 1892.

At the age of five years he came with his parents and four sisters to America and settled at Randall, Iowa. He is the last one of his family to pass away. His parents, four sisters and three brothers have preceded him in death.

Dec. 31, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Larson (Mathre), Rev. O. P. Vangsnes officiating. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Selmer Hia, Mrs. Obie Hauge, Stanton and Sherman. Mrs. Hauge preceded him in death a year ago. Those who mourn his departure are his wife and three children mentioned above, and three grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends.

Mr. Jacobson was engaged in farming near Randall for many years, with the exception of seven years when the family lived at Blue Earth, Minn. Mr. Jacobson had not been in good health for some years, and the last year his health was fading away rapidly. But he always bore his suffering with great patience. His wife, who stood by him and faithfully nursed him, did all that could be done for his health but nothing seemed to help. Mr. Jacobson had been a member of the Elim Lutheran church of Randall from childhood. He became reconciled to his Lord and Saviour and was sure of eternal life when the struggle was over.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, at one o'clock at Elim church, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiating. At the home Truman Quam and Mrs. Benj. Anderson sang "God Will Take Care of You" and at the service at the church Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Quam sang, "When They Ring the Golden Bells for You and Me" and Truman Quam sang "In the Beautiful Garden of Prayer." The pall bearers were T. J. Quam, P. J. Okland, Lewis Braland, Chris Teig, George Templer and N. J. Peterson. Burial took place in the Mount Olive cemetery. $21.50 was given in his memory to Missions and Parochial school by friends and relatives in the community.
