DEATH OF MRS. JOHN TEGLAND
Mrs. John Teigland, shoe maiden name was Herborg Larson and whose parents were Simon and Bretta Larson, was born at Nokling Bremness, Norway, Nov. 22, 1846, and died at Randall April 9, 1936, at the age of 89 years and 5 months.
Her childhood days in Norway was spent at a place called Bakken on the Folgeroe. June 27, 1872, she was united in marriage to John Teigland in the church where Rev. N. C. Berner officiated. To this union seven children were born, of whom four have preceded her in death. Those who survive are Mathias Teigland, Elmore, Minn.; Anna (Mrs. Halvor Skorpen) of Valley City, N. D. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Mr. Teigland who came alone to this country in 1886, brought his wife and three children here three years later in 1889. The same year the family settled on a farm which Mr. Teigland had bought two miles west of Randall, and on this farm Mr. and Mrs. Teigland worked hard to 19 years, with the result that they were well provided for the rest of their lives.
In 1908 they sold their farm and built themselves a comfortable home in Randall, where they have lived happily these many years. Besides having plenty for daily bread they also lived in close communion with their Lord and Savior, whom they loved and worshipped daily.
In 1892 the family joined the Elim Lutheran church at Randall. In this church Mrs. Teigland was a faithful worshipper. She had a big heart for missions, and as long as she was able she was a faithful member of the Okland aid society. Now Mrs. Teigland has departed to a better home. Her husband is left alone in his home.
Mr. Teigland was buried from the Elim church at Randall April 13. Rev. Paulsrud officiated. She was laid to rest in Mt. Olive cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: Sam and George Teigland, Peder Okland, Peder Moe, Bendick Anderson and Iver Thompson. The sum of $21.00 was given by friends and relatives to mission and parochial school work.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mrs. Middleton, John Vike and Mrs. Alfred Larson , of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Eaton of Britt, Mrs. Halvor Skorpen of Valley City, N. D., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Stensland and Elizabeth, and Mrs. Gunderson of Kenyon, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Teigland and family of Elmore, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Teigland and children, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Teigland and Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Larson of
