Wednesday, June 11, 1980JEWELL - Funeral services for Mrs. Leo Davis, 80, of Ellsworth, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist church in Ellsworth with the Rev. James Lusher and the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Jewell with the Becker Funeral home officiating.
Mrs. Davis died Monday night at Bethany Manor in Story City. She had suffered a stroke Jan. 25.
Lydia Sue Engelking was born Oct. 24, 1899 at Van Horn, Iowa. In 1973, she came to Jewell to make her home with her sister Mrs. Mabel Weise. On Sept. 30, 1977 she married Leo Davis at the Federated Church of Christ in Jewell. For many years she clerked in ready-to-wear stores.
She is survived by her husband and two step-daughters, Mrs. Verne (Verla) Klaver of Williams and Mrs. Raymond (Neva) Veymer of Denison, one step son, Larry Davis of Jewell; nine step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, one brother, John Engelking of Vinton, two sisters, Ruth McGrew of Maquoketa and Mabel Weise of Jewell. She was preceded in death by her first husband Henry Robertson Dec. 28, 1969; by her parents, three brothers, Ralph, Fred and Lester Engelking, and two sisters, Verna and Gertie.
She was a member of the United Methodist church.
