Thursday, October 26, 1989Floyd T. Draves, 59, rural Blairsburg, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, where he had been a patient since Oct. 2. He had been in failing health for three years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, Rev. Leroy Franz officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery. Graveside flag-folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 633 of Williams. Visitation at Foster's is after 4 p.m. today until time of service Saturday. The family will receive visitors between 7-9 p.m. Friday evening.
Floyd Thomas Draves, son of Carl and Ruth Evans Draves, was born July 17, 1930 on a farm near Dows. He attended a rural school near Dows and one in Dows, graduating from Williams High School.
He married Wanda Bryan on Feb. 19, 1949 in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed west of Williams for three years before Mr. Draves entered the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Munich, Germany from 1952-54. In March 1955, the couple moved to their present farm north of Blairsburg.
He is survived by his wife Wanda, Blairsburg; a son, Len T. Draves, Blairsburg; a daughter, Michele Louise Draves, Fort Dodge; two brothers, Curtis Draves, Clarion and Russell Draves, Carroll, a sister, Kathryn (Mrs. Lester) Hanson, Ellsworth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Draves was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Blairsburg.
