Daily Freeman Tribune, Webster City, Iowa, Wednesday, August 22, 1900/Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, August 28, 1900

Frank Funk, nephew of Jacob M. Funk, who came here in very poor health several weeks ago, died at the home of his cousin, Mrs. H.R. Dodge, this afternoon, of Bright's disease, aggravated by inflammatory rheumatism. Deceased was about forty years of age and had been a trainman on a Missouri road a number of years before ill-health compelled him to retire from service. He owned several fine farms in Hamilton county, was an industrious and frugal young man and leaves quite a valuable estate. He lived here a few years ago and made many friends who will regret to hear of his untimely death.

Hamilton County Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Friday, August 24, 1900

Three weeks ago Frank Funk arrived in the city and has since been sick with Bright's disease at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Billings, on Elm street, until Wednesday when death relieved him of his pain. Mr. Funk was a nephew of J.M. Funk, and had spent some years in the railway service in the state of Missouri. The constant riding on trains however seemed to aggravate a natural weakness of the kidneys which developed in the last few years into the Bright's disease, from which he died.

Mr. Funk was a Pennsylvanian by birth and was about 40 years of age. His parents were both dead, but he has a sister and two brothers who survive him. He was a frugal and industrious man and had been able to acquire considerable property during his life.

The funeral takes place this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Billings home, Rev. F.A. Harter officiating.
