Monday, October 12, 1936JEWELL, Iowa, Oct 12 - Funeral services for Mrs. Rasmus J. Skilbred, 65, will be held at the Rose Grove church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock preceded by a short service at the home. Burial will be made in Rose Grove cemetery with the Rev. H. Jacobson, of Williams, and Carl Opsahl, of Jewell, officiating. Fleenor's in charge.
Mrs. Skilbred died suddenly at her home in Jewell Saturday following a heart attack. Although she seemed to be in as good health as usual, her granddaughter stayed all night with her but did not realize that her grandmother had died until a son, Raymond, arrived at the house and found her.
Olava M. Randeberg was born July 20, 1871 in Norway and came to the United States July 20, 1892 when she was 21 years old. She first came to Ellsworth, and worked in the vicinity of Rose Grove township. She married Rasmus J. Skilbred Sept. 8, 1894. They moved to their farm three miles south of Blairsburg, where they lived for 32 years.
There were four children born to this union. One son, Elmer, died in infancy. The others are Mrs. Henry Hill of Williams; Mrs. Henry Alvestad of Blairsburg and Raymond of Jewell. Her husband died Dec. 1, 1926.
There is one sister, Mrs. Marie Strom, of Hadley, Minn., and one brother, Martin Randeberg, of San Pedro, Calif., and three sisters and one brother in Norway. She also leaves 10 grandchildren.
Mrs. Skilbred was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway. She was a charter member of the Rose Grove church where she retained her membership until her death.
Mr. and Mrs. Skilbred moved to Jewell in March, 1926.
