Tuesday, September 6, 1983JEWELL - Walter Ubben, 77, died Monday at the Story City hospital. He had been there for six weeks following a stroke.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 at the United Community church at Kamrar with Rev. Norman FrerKing officiating.
Burial will be at the Liberty Center cemetery near Kamrar.
He was born Sept. 16, 1905 near Kamrar, the son of Carrie Honken and Ben Ubben.
He was married April 16, 1932 [Gladys M. Johnson] at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage at Ellsworth, and the couple had always farmed in the Kamrar area until moving to Jewell last October.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Willis Ubben, Sr. of Mitchellville and Wayne Ubben of Stanhope; a daughter, Mrs. Carroll (Waneta) Hall of Blairsburg; four brothers, Melvin Ubben of Williams, Edward Ubben of Williams, Leonard Ubben of Webster City and Arend Ubben of Jewell; seven sisters, Mrs. Minnie Larson of Klemme, Elsie Maples of Stanhope, Bernice McCollough of Webster City, Mrs. Carrie Caruth of Jewell, Mrs. Carl Davis of Webster City, Mrs. Grace Isvik of Story City and Mrs. Edmund Seiser of Webster City; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Benny Ubben and three infant brothers; two sisters, Rickie Wepel and Lena Welsch; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Becker Funeral home tonight and until the time of services at the church.
