Thursday, October 17, 1996Harvey Miller, 88, Jewell, died Oct. 13, 1996 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, with Rev. Tim Nappe officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell was in charge of arrangements.
Harvey Merle Miller, son of Julius J. and Anna Larson, Miller, was born March 6, 1908 in Randall. He was a 1926 graduate of Randall High School. On Sept. 7, 1933 he married Quvie Lindebak in Sterling, Ill. They farmed northwest of Ellsworth prior to moving to the O.J. Larson farm near Jewell. He farmed a century farm and served on the co-op board. He was director of the ASCS Committee for Hamilton County.
He is survived by his wife, Quvie, Jewell; daughters, Sharon and Lee Caudle, Des Moines, Susan and Lynn Beyer, Jewell; grandchildren, Gary and Joy Williams, Brian and Laura Williams, Jenice and Richard Williams-Cooper, Carolyn and James Ross, Keith and Jerri Caudle, Paul and Leah Caudle, Kimberly and Ned McKenna, and Jennifer Beyer; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Reuben Miller, Story City; sister, Martha Johnson, Ankeny. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean; infant grandson, Chad Beyer; brothers, Lawrence and Alvin Miller; sister, Myrtle Hanson; and a sister in infancy.
Mr. Miller was a life-long member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, where he was baptized, confirmed, served as a trustee, and was on the building committee when the new church was built. He was also a member of the Stratford Izaak Walton League, the National Good Sams Club, and the local chapter of the Hawkeye Dodgers. He was also a charger member of the Little Wall Lake Sportsmans Club.
