Mrs. Zapf is the only sister of Mrs. Saathoff and she is three years younger. Mrs. Zapf came to this country two years after her sister and located at her sister's home in Illinois. She was married there the following year. In 1870 Mr. and Mrs. Zapf came to Grundy county and located on a farm in Lincoln township which has been Mrs. Zapf's home for fifty-five years.
