Mrs. Sallie Reynolds was born near Hartford, Conn., in 1842. She moved to Illinois in 1847, coming by the way of the Hudson river, Erie Canal and Great Lakes to Chicago. There was no railroad west of Chicago at that time and she went overland to Fremont, Carroll county, and lived there until after the war when in 1871 she was married to C. W. Reynolds and came to Grundy Center in that year, and except for a few years on the farm near Grundy Center has been a continuous resident of Grundy Center, covering a period of 54 years.

In this time, a little over a half century, she has seen this county develop from raw prairie to its present stage.

The past 5 years she has lived with her eldest son, J. H., at 818 G Ave., Grundy Center.
