PASSED AWAY SUNDAY AFTERNOON ALMOST INSTANTLY—BURIAL AT CHURDAN

Grief was brought into the W. A. Peacock home Sunday afternoon when the husband and father passed away suddenly about 3 o’clock, apoplexy being the cause of his death. Mr. Peacock had been in excellent health and had eaten a hearty dinner. Death came to him without suffering during the afternoon, after he had gone upstairs. A slight noise attracted the attention of Mrs. Peacock, and she was attracted upstairs. Mr. Peacock had fallen to the bathroom floor and passed away soon after.

Mr. and Mrs. Peacock and family moved to Spirit Lake about five years ago, and since that time have made many friends here, having taken part in the activities of the community. Mr. Peacock has been a stock buyer in the community since making his residence here.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence. Rev. J. H. Edge, of Sheldon officiating. The body was taken to Churdan Wednesday morning, where services were held at the undertaking parlors Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Piper. Interment was made in the family lot in the Churdan cemetery, where services were conducted by the Masons.

William Arthur Peacock was born in Cass county, Iowa, October 26, 1879 and died at his home in Spirit Lake, on Sunday afternoon, March 10, 1929. He moved with his parents to Churdan in 1900, where he lived until moving to Spirit Lake in the spring of 1924. He was married to Madeline Beecher, Dec. 22, 1904. To this union six children were born, Kenneth, who is a student at Drake University, Donald, a student at Iowa University, Ralph and little Jeanne at home, who together with his wife are left to mourn his sudden demise. Roger, passed away at the age of one and one half years and Phyllis, who died in infancy.

He also leaves three brothers and four sisters to mourn his departure, Ira F. of Spirit Lake; Val of Harris and Alva L. of Churdan; Mrs. E. B. Wood, of Beaver; Mrs. H. F. Biggs, of Jefferson, Mrs. C. G. Shriver and Mrs. Maud Barnes of Churdan, all of whom were here to attend the funeral services.

W. A. Peacock was a member of the Masonic lodge at Churdan and a member of Twilight Chapter O. E. S. and of Calvary Shrine, W. S. of J. in Spirit Lake.
