Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 24, from the United Methodist Church in Rippey for Olive Lea Wood, 94, longtime Greene county resident.
The Rev. Donald L. Glazier, minister of the church, officiated. Mrs. Dale Neese was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. John Grow.
Casket bearers were Walter Babb, Don Coon, Dale Morse, Claire Thornburgh, Errol Wilson and Harold Grow. Interment was in Rippey Cemetery.
Olive Leah Wood, daughter of Wm. A [C]. and Martha Harris Peacock, was born Sept. 22, 1875, near Atlantic in Cass County, Iowa. When a child she moved with her parents to Audubon where she attended public school and grew to womanhood.
Olive and Ervin B. Wood were united in marriage Dec. 4, 1895, at Denison. Eight children were born to this union, six of whom survive. They moved to Greene county Feb. 24, 1900, where they lived the rest of their married life except seven years spent in Dallas county.
Olive was baptized when a small girl and was a member of the Rippey Methodist Church. Mrs. Wood passed away Oct. 20, 1969, at the Greene County Hospital at the age of 94 years and 28 days. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950.
Those surviving are three sons, Harley of Jefferson, Walter of Grand Junction, and Lyle of Chico, Calif; three daughters, Vava (Mrs. Wm) Monthel of Rippey; Mrs. Alta Mantz of Jefferson; and Vera (Mrs. Harry) Johnson of Grand Junction. 21 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.
