Four Members of Walker Phillips Family in Atchison County Die of Burns Suffered in Farm Fire Last Evening

Fire Believed to Have Started From a Kerosene Can in Kitchen

For members of the Walker Phillips family died within nine hours and the remaining member, 33 year-old father, was in critical condition today at St. Francis hospital here as a result of burns received at 7 o'clock Tuesday night in a fire at their two-story frame farm home one-half mile north of Fairfax.

Virgil LeRoy Phillips, 9-year-old, son, died at 4 o'clock this morning at St. Francis hospital. Other fire victims are Mrs. Bernice May Phillips, 25; her 13-day-old son Larry Ray, and a daughter, Ruby Jane, 2 1/2-years-old. The father and son were brought here last nightin a Fairfax ambulance.
