William H. Boom, oldest son of Folkert and Margaret (Carbiener) Boom was born near Marble Rock, Iowa, on June 26, 1889. Besides helping with the work on the farm, he was interested in photography and electronics. When he was about 18 years of age he purchased the photographic gallery located on Main Street from Mr. Jewett Clay. He had this business from 1907 to 1916.

After running a successful business for about nine years he decided to sell the photo business to Mr. F. N. Nye but continued to reamin in the show business with Mr. John S. Jesmore. They showed movie pictures in the Opera House. Later Mr. Boom was projectionist at the theater Mr. Earl R. Bailey Built on Main Street.

The caption for the photograph below said: Young Will Boom in his famous gallery located at the corner of Main and Beelar Streets. Will photographed three generations of Marble Rock people. He was widely known for the excellence of his work."
