Mary Hanna Roskammer was born in Cherokee, August 15, 1889. She was the second daughter of Lawrence and Catherine Rieffenberger. Throughout her life, she was a member of the Catholic faith. On August 10, 1907, she became the wife of August Roskammer, at Cherokee. Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Roskammer moved to a farm east of Cherokee where they lived for three years. Leaving for a farm in O'Brien county, they resided there until they retired in 1946, and moved to Milford. They enjoyed life in retirement a very short time, as Mrs. Roskammer became ill, and suffered for five years preceding her death.

To Mr. and Mrs. Roskammer, three children were born. They are Lawrence of Wayzata, Minn., Lester, of Arnolds Park and Mrs. Wilbur Mathern, (Luverna) of Gaza, Iowa, all of whom survive. She also leaves four grandchildren and three brothers. Mr. Roskammer, her husband, was most devoted to her during the long years of illness and took care of her at home until it was necessary to take her to the Nursing home.

Mrs. Roskammer was one of 10 children and was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and her parents. She was a faithful wife and a kind mother, always willing to help her many friends and neighbors with a good deed. During her stay at the Edwards Nursing- home, where she received the best of care, she was most patient during her long illness. The women of Saint Joseph parish served dinner to the Roskammer family and friends, in the church basement, the day of the funeral.
