My 3rd GGrandfather was Joseph Swope. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa from Kentucky about 1835 and died in 1838. On Oct 8, 1838 his widow relinquished her right of administration of the estate to John O Smith. I would like to find documentation to confirm death date and any other pertinent info (such as his parents) available. I do not know where he was buried. His widow, Margaret Long had 2 children with Swope (Vianna and John Sylvester) and she married Tilgham Taylor in 1839. His 178 pg probate primarily is the Accounting by the administrator listing debts owed to Swope and receipts of payment.
