George Mosena, 78, Dies Here
George M. Mosena, 78, of 1925 Vogt Street, died Sunday at 10:30 p.m. in St. Francis hospital where he had been a patient for 3 weeks. He had been custodian of the present Farmers & Merchants bank building for 32 years until his
retirement 3 years ago. Before beginning work in the newly constructed bank building in 1913 he had been a lumber boss for Burlington Lumber company and previously had worked for Gilbert, Hedge and company. He was born in Burlington March 3, 1869, the son of Melvin and Elizabeth Parks Mosena. Nov. 12, 1890, in Burlington, he married Lena Stumpf. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic
Church, the Holy Name society and Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are the widow; 8 sons, Dr. Charles Mosena, George, Melvin, Wilbur, Chester and Glen, all of Burlington, Leslie and Paul in California; 5 daughters, Mrs. Harvey Dowell, Mrs. Albert Heckenberg, Mrs. LeRoy Leidig and Mrs. Milton Yeiter, of Burlington, and Mrs. Clarence
Dowell, Moline; a sister, Mrs Belle Tilton, Salem, Oregon; 37 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's church. the body
will be taken to the Mosena home Monday evening from Prugh's chapel and the cortege will leave for the church Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery,. Rosary will be recited by the Holy Name society Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the residence.
