Don Springsteen

Donald J. Springsteen, 63, of Burlington died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 5, 1961, in Burlington, he was the son of Dale and Tillie Dobbs Springsteen. On March 10, 1984, he married Linda Meeker in Burlington.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School and remained close with his classmates and childhood friends.

Don worked as a truck driver his whole career and drove for Atlas Warehouse, Churchill, Shelman and Sons, TriOak Foods and several other businesses over the years.

He was a skilled fisherman, with the guidance of his close friends and enjoyed his fishing trips with his friends and grandkids. Don was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Pirates.

He could be found spending time at the Kingston Top Gun Club and always had time for a visit while he was out and about.

Most of all, Don was a family man and loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Springsteen of Kingston; two sons, Ryan (Katie) Springsteen of Mediapolis, and Matt (Rachael) Springsteen of Wapello; five grandchildren, Alivia, Keegan, Kayden, Norah, and Crafton; seven siblings, Linda (Richard) Kuenzler of Texas, Katy Logan of Burlington, Ennie (Gary) Krogmeier of New London, Mike (Rea) Springsteen of Burlington, Doug (LeAnne) Springsteen of Urbandale, Mary (Greg) Kuenzler of Sperry, Carol "Roe" (Mike) Abel of Mediapolis; mother-in-law, Marie Meeker of Kingston; brother-in-law, Mark (Cathy) Meeker of Kingston; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and his great friends he has made over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Terry Springsteen, two nephews, and father-in-law, Crafton Meeker.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Don Springsteen will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Wally Reynolds officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Northern Des Moines County Fire and Ambulance Services and Des Moines County Humane Society.
