The Leon Reporter on Thursday May 13, 1924 reported the death of:
Dr. Eugene Joseph Briitan, youngest child of Daniel and Charlotte Brittan, who was born in Danville, New York, Oct 19, 1860 and died at Decatur, Iowa May 9, 1924. In August 1899 he joined in marriage to Miss Mavis Hayden. He is survived by his wife, his daughter Mrs. Marjorie Brown of Rawlins, Wyoming, and son Howard E. Brittan of Decatur as well as two sisters, Anna Street of Oneonto, Otsego Co, NY and Alida Jones of Esperance, Schoharie NY and a brother James Brittan of Albany.
I believe that Daniel Brittan, Eugene Joseph's father, may have been the brother of my husband's great-great grandfather, John Wesley Brittan who left land for him in Duanesburgh, Schenectady Co, NY in his will of 1872. Daniel's widow, Charlotte, is living in Duanesburgh on the 1880 census with her 2 sons: James and Joseph (just before he leaves to go to NY City to become a homeopathic doctor).
