I'm looking for information about Jefferson Cook and Ellen (Helen) Powell.
They moved from Indiana to Iowa before the Civil War and Jefferson fought in the 40th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteer Infantry. They later moved to Decatur Co. and are buried in Bethel Cemetery, Eden Township.
I have the info on Jefferson Cook's ancestors if any one would like it. But i know nothing about Ellen (Helen) Powell other then her father's name may have been Emery Powell and her mother Annie? Two of Jefferson and Ellen Cook's children were married in Decatur Co.
Leander Cook m. Martha E. Stanton
Nancy Cook m. William H. Hockenburyand Monterville John Cook m. Emma FAHRNEY in Poweshiek Co.
I would love to exchange notes with any one interested in these families.
