Steve "Doc" Kruse, 57, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at VA Central Iowa Health Care in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Sundberg Kirkpatrick Chapel.

Doc was born in Boone, IA on July 27, 1954 to George and Caroline (Smith) Kruse and lived most of his life in Madrid. He worked at Firestone and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

Doc is survived by his devoted dog, Bear; step-daughter, Jill; five siblings, Dixie Danielson, Carolee, Mary (Ed) Yost, George Kruse, Jr. and Aleta (Duane) Townsend; nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dick and Dave Bolt and Dallas Morelock; and brother-in-law, Virgil Danielson.

Memorial contributions may be directed the Animal Rescue League or the family.
