Services for Harry Swallow, 100, a resident at Foutain West Care Center, Des Moines, and formerly of Booneville, who died Feb. 10, 1984, at the care center, were held Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Chamberlain-Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial was at the Booneville Cemetery.
He was born on April 24, 1883, the son of George and Martha Swallow. He was the fourth of eight children and was preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters.
He was a farmer, cafe owner and after retirement, worked at the Hopkins Sporting Goods Co. until he was more than 90 years old. He was an avid skeet shooter, having participated in his last skeet shoot at age 97.
Survivors include his wife, Tessie Mae; a daughter Betty Geist of West Des Moines; a son, Wayne of Earlham; three grandsons, and five great grandchildren.
