Dorothy Louise Deardorff, 81, of Perry died of congestive heart failure Monday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, with burial at Violet Hill Cemetery there.
Mrs. Deardorff was born in Perry and had lived in Yale and Panora before returning to Perry. She was a farm wife and had worked as an aide at Greene County Hospital. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Yale and Order of the Eastern Star in Perry, and she enjoyed flowers, gardening and cooking.
She is survived by two sons, Dale of Ottawa, Kan., and Bert of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Sharol Rhoads of Polk City, and Sharon Smith, Nadean Allen and Pam Lynam, all of Panora; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert "Bill" Deardorff.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Kavanagh House on 56th Street. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register 26 Mar 2002.
