Mrs. Jacob Kropf Succumbs Friday Morning Following An Operation for Gall Stones.Born In Germany In Year 1857
Was Mother of Fourteen Children Who, With the Husband, Mourn Deeply Their Loss
Mrs. Jacob Kropf died at the Denison hospital on Friday morning, February 25th, at 1 o'clock following an operation which was performed on Thursday, February 17th. Mrs. Kropf had been suffering for several months with gall stones and an operation was decided upon. She withstood the ordeal bravely and seemingly was regaining her strength, but at the early hour Friday took a sudden turn for the worse and died before a doctor was able to reach her bedside. Mr. Kropf visited his wife at the hospital the evening before and he found her in excellent spirits and when he bade her goodnight he never dreamed that he would never see her alive again.
Louise Boysen was born Sept. 25, 1857, at Cromwich, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and came to America when about twenty years of age, settling at Lyons, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob Kropf on the fifth day of March, 1877. In 1880 the family moved to Crawford county, settling on a farm in Stockholm township, later farming in Soldier township. They retired from the farm last year and purchased a beautiful home in North Denison, where they have since resided.
Fourteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kropf who, with the father, are left to mourn the death of their loving mother. They are Mrs. Dora Behrens, of Yuma, Colo.; Carl of Stockholm township; Max, of Denison; Mrs. Laura Miller, of Woodbury county; Mrs. Anna Jensen, of Battle Creek; Mrs. Emma Schelldorf, of Jackson township; Herman, of Stockholm township; Mr. Josephine Abbott, of Deloit;; Lizzie, Edward, Jacob, Harry, Adelia and Walter living at home. Besides these she leaves three sisters and four brothers, namely: Mrs. Elisa Petersen and Mrs. Sophia Teut, both of Denison, and Mrs. Mary Kroeger, of Schleswig; William Boysen of Lyons; August Boysen, of Andover; Louie Boysen, of Lyons, and Edward, who lives in Minnesota.
Mrs. Kropf was a kind and loving mother and a woman who was held in high esteem by all with whom she came in contact.
The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the German Lutheran church. Rev Wm. Frese officiating, after which interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
The Review joins with the many friends of the family in extending heartfelt sympathy in their hour of loss.
