Arthur E. "Art" Bogren, 72, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died of cancer on Monday, May 30,1994, at Buena Vista Manor Care Center. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 2, 1992, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dale Robbins officiating. Burial with military honors by Alta VFW Post 6172 was in Hayes Township Cemetery in rural Arthur, Iowa.

Arthur Eugene Bogren was born October 11, 1921, in Warren, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur L. and Mildred L. Knapp Bogren. He graduated from high school in Youngsville, Pennsylvania, attended Bliss Electrical School in Washington, D.C., for two years, and also Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, for two years.

He was married to Mary Elizabeth Hamlin on August 14, 1948, in San Jose, California. Art worked as the foreman of the electrical shop for the city of San Jose, California, prior to moving to Storm Lake in 1978 to work as the Storm Lake building inspector. He retired in 1986.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served as moderator, chairman of deacons, chairman of the pulpit committee, and was a longtime Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Storm Lake High Noon Kiwanis and the Alta VFW Post 6172. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II as an aerial engineer on a B-24.

His family includes his wife, Mary of Storm Lake; a daughter, Debbie Hamlin of Casper, Wyoming; two brothers, John "Les" and his wife, Beatrice, and George and his wife, Morene, and a sister, Loraine, and her husband, Carl Swart, all of Modesto, California. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
