My great grandfather, Johann BUCK enlisted in the Army on 22nd August 1862. I have his military records. He was a member of CO. E, 26 Regiment. His pension records states that he enlisted in Lyons, Iowa. However, in later pension applications he states that his post office at the time of enlistment was Liquance, Iowa. I have searched the 1860 federal census and am unable to find any Buck families in Lyons. Is there possibly a township of Lyons as well as a town of Lyons?
After the Civil War my great grandfather lived in Indiana and changed his name to John BOOK. If you can give me any information about Lyons, Iowa either the town or township, I would greatly appreciate your help.
