Good morning Robin, Yes, I understand that you are trying to connect the 1870 families Vos/Voss to your Claus. What is not known is how we go about this. From the 1870 enumeration of Claus & Henry we know that they came over after the 1860 census so there will be no help prior to that on census records. Claus & Louisa are enumerated as married in Nov. of 1869. so hopefully, in Clinton co. Have you checked for a civil or church marriage record? Have you checked for baptismal records of the children? They may have been married in the same church where the baptisms occurred. Sponsors of the marriage & baptisms are also clues. The sponsors were usually family or close friends. The 1915 Ia. state census enumeration for CLOSS Voss indicates he was of the Lutheran faith. Check with the Clinton co. gene & historical societies for any assistance they can provide as to what churches were in the area in that time frame. You can probably rule out Catholic churches as a priest would not have performed an event for a non-Catholic. Wishing you success in all your genealogical pursuits Robin. Have a rewarding day. Dick
