I am trying trace my maternal grandmother's family the Winters. She was the daughter of Michael and Catharine Winters both born in PA. My grandmother, Francis Louise, her sister May and brother Louis C were born in the Clinton area( an educated guess as they appear on the 1880 Census in Clinton). My grandmother married Edward Martin Shirk from Princeton Twp, Scott County and lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from approx. 1920 to 1937. I have no idea where they went after 1937.
I have just found the Henry and Mary Winters family in the 1860 Census, Clinton Division: Center Township. They had a family of 12: Ellen 26, Joseph 22, John 21, Michael 18, Susana 16, Mary A. 16, Margaret 14, Eliza J. 12, Patrick 10,(born in PA) Hugh 9, Frances 7, Roselin 5, Helina 3 and Caroline 3 (born in IA). The Michael might be my great grandfather.
Has anyone come across this family in their research? I have only the vague memories of a 6 year old meeting my great Aunt May so any clues would be appreciated.
