Marion Ellsworth Anderson, b. in Ainsworth, Iowa, Nov. 18, 1882; s. of William Hamilton and Rosella (Sweet) Anderson.

William Hamilton Anderson, b. in Moundsville, W. Va., Jan. 30, 1852. He attended pub. schs., and about 1870, settled in Lawrence, Kansas, where he engaged in farming, and in the fuel business, 4 years. In 1874, he moved to Washington Co., Iowa, where he engaged in farming the remainder of his life. He was a Republican, and served as a supervisor. He was a mem. of the Modern Woodmen of America, and of the M. E. Ch. He died June 1, 1937. His wife, Rosella (Sweet) Anderson, who was b. in Washington Co., Iowa, May 7, 1857, died Jan. 5, 1932. She was a second cousin of President Ulysses S. Grant.

M. E. Anderson, the subject of this sketch, attended grade and high schs., and was a student at Elliott's Business Coll., in Burlington, Iowa. He graduated with an A. B. deg. from Iowa Wesleyan Univ., at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in 1906, and subsequently attended Monmouth (Ill.) Coll., a year. He later taught sch. at Wapello, Iowa, a year, and in 1911, recd. an M. D. deg. from Northwestern Univ. He then practiced medicine at Clinton, Iowa, in assn. with Dr. D. S. Fairchild, Sr., and Dr. D. S. Fairchild, Jr., a year, since which time he has maintained a private practice of medicine. Dr. Anderson, who took grad. work at the Chicago Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hosp., specializes in cancer of the breast and uterus. During the World War, he served in the U. S. Med. Corps, and was hon. disch. as a 1st lieut. Dr. Anderson, who is a Republican, formerly served as coroner of Clinton County, Iowa. He is a mem. of the following: Masonic Lodge (32nd deg); Missouri Valley Med. Soc.; Am. Legion (charter mem.); Omega Epsilon Phi, and Phi Beta Pi; Clinton Chapter Citizens Hist. Assn.; and M. E. Church. He is the author of "Cancer of the Breast and Uterus" (two publications). Dr. Anderson is a direct descendant of King Henry VIII, of England.

On Mar. 20, 1915, Mr. M. E. Anderson married Bertha Reimers, who was b. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There are no children.
