James Wesley Polly was born near Osceola, Iowa, November 28, 1853. He lived there until March 28, 1876, when he was married to Lucinda C. Atha, and moved to Monona county, Iowa, where he resided until death.
They were the parents of twelve children of which seven are still living. His wife was called away by death March 10, 1901. He was married to Lydia Coffey, of Leslie, Iowa, October 22, 1902. He confessed Christ about six years ago.

Mr. Polly departed this life March 11, 1903 aged forty-nine years, three months and eleven days. He leaves a wife, seven children, father, mother, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held at his home conducted by Rev. LeGrand Pace of Onawa, Monona County, Iowa, after which he was buried at the Harrison cemetery by the M.W.A. of which he had been a member for several ears. Mr. Polly will be missed by all who knew him.
