Benjamin M. Schaffer, 73, of Eldon died Wednesday, July 10, 1991 at the Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach.

He was born September 22, 1917 in Clarke County, Iowa to Jesse and Eva May Hale Schaffer. Mr. Schaffer attended the Fremont School in Clarke County. On Jan. 8, 1839 he was married in Winterset, Iowa to Fern Fitzgerald, who survives at the home.

Mr. Schaffer had lived in the Des Moines and Osceola, Iowa areas most of his life. He moved to Eldon in 1977. He retired in 1972 as a machinist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy; four sisters and a brother.

He was a member of the Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge 315, AF & AM in St. Charles, Iowa.

Other survivors are two daughters, Cheryl Ross and Terri Fults, both of Eldon; two sons, Rex Schaffer of Norwalk, Iowa and Marc Schaffer of Lake Ozark; five grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Kale Funereal Home in Osceola, Iowa.
