Emma Bonita “ Bonnie” Porter, the daughter of John Bain and Laura Belle Burchett Woodard, was born June 23, 1916, in Clarke County and died Nov. 6, 2001, at the USA Healthcare Facility in Urbandale. She was 85.

Mrs. Porter was raised and attended country school near Lacelle. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Lacelle as a child.

She married Roy L. Pierson in 1939 and the couple became the parents of two daughters, Bonnie Leigh and Betty Lou.

Mrs. Porter lived in Clarke County. She was a homemaker and a nurses aid at Leisure Manor and Clarke County Hospital in Osceola before she retired.

As a wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver she gave love to all around her. She spent many hours playing with her grandchildren leaving them with memories of being loved and feeling special.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy L. Pierson and Donald Porter; her parents, two brothers, Fran and Verlin Woodard, two sisters, Leona M. Cochran and infant sister, Margaret.

She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Clark and her husband, Roger Clark, of Urbandale, Betty Ruble and her husband, Stan Ruble, of Urbandale; four grandchildren, Terri Pearson and her husband, Steve Pierson, of Newton, Bryan Clark, and Kevin Ruble and his wife, Darcy Ruble, of Wichita, Kan. and Kelly Ruble and his wife, Megan Ruble, of Clive; two great-grandchildren, Derek McLauglin of Newton and Ellie Ruble of Wichita; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Porter were Nov. 9 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, the Rev. Phil Coe of the First Christian Church officiated. Organist Pennie Gonseth accompanied Emil Rinderspacher as he sang Amazing Grace and Precious Memories.

Casket bearers were Larry Page, Jeff Page, Norman Little, David Gorsline, Steve Pearson, Bill Gonseth and Chuck Seelinger. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.
